I paint with acrylics on watercolor paper, using the process of layering the paint and scratching back to reveal unique colors and textures in my paintings.
Two Sunlit Trees ~ a recent painting. I actually began this painting late last spring as I was inspired by the beauty of the light dappled trees in my neighborhood. I feel fortunate to live here in ATL where we have many large deciduous trees. When the leaves first come out, the greens are fresh and bright and glisten in the sun. I didn’t complete the painting at that time, because it wasn’t working well, so I decided to put aside.
Now in the fall, I’m back to being inspired on my walks savoring the beauty of the trees through the sunlight. One of the fun parts of being an artist as that I’ve become more observant and love watching how light effects color. With this inspiration I picked up this painting and started reworking the shadows and light on the trunks and limbs and it’s at the point where I’m pleased.
