I paint with acrylics on watercolor paper, using the process of layering the paint and scratching back to reveal unique colors and textures in my paintings.
Sunlit Unicorn ~ I had done a Pegasus flying horse painting a while back, which had been a fun challenge. This time, I decided to paint another horse, but this time do more of a close up and make the white horse a magical unicorn.
I began the painting on the summer solstice. It was a beautiful sunny first day of summer after what seemed like weeks of wet rainy weather. I decided to paint the unicorn with a sun encircled with vivid colors and light shining down on the unicorn’s mane. It was a complement to the painting, titled Moonlit Unicorn that I had done years ago of a white unicorn with the full moon above her in a forest.
