I paint with acrylics on watercolor paper, using the process of layering the paint and scratching back to reveal unique colors and textures in my paintings.
Earth - is the final element in the series of paintings that I’ve done exploring the water, fire and air elements. I found the element of earth fairly easy to imagine. Here in Atlanta, we had an unusually wet spring. We have had rain off and on for days, because of this, the vegetation is lush and rich with color. My painting was inspired by this flourishing of the many shades of greens and browns of the in the landscape, including the vibrant colorful blooming flowers. I started with light washes across the page and continued adding more intense rich colors. It looks like it could be a landscape but still is an abstract which I like.
